In 2017, the magazine "Auto Motor und Sport" compared the latest speech dialog systems of various OEMs, including BMW, Audi, Ford, Infiniti, Mercedes, Peugeot, VW, and Volvo. The BMW system was rated as the best in-car speech recognizer and test results showed that it is the only automotive voice control system which is usable in an intuitive way.
I am convinced that the importance of good voice control in the car will further grow in the future since speech interaction is much less distrcating while driving and thus minimizes the risk of accidents due to driver distraction.
